Dark Horse Dunker quarterfinals match Rickett vs. Lacey from Navy

CHICAGO – Oklahoma City University's Walter Rickett has advanced past the first round of the Dark Horse Dunker competition into the quarterfinals.
Rickett, a senior men's basketball player from Dallas, reached the quarterfinals, which starts noon CST Wednesday. Help Rickett continue in the competition by casting your vote at darkhorsedunker.com daily until noon Feb. 28.
Rickett has been included among under-the-radar student-athletes with hops and creativity that belong on the national stage. Rickett averages 5.3 points and 1.9 rebounds a game with a 57.1 percent field-goal percentage for the Stars.
The competition is put on by Intersport, producers of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships. The "Dark Horse Dunker" contest is a digital media contest that will match up the top college dunkers in a bracket-style competition to determine the final participant in the Slam Dunk Championship, which will be March 29 in San Antonio during the week of the Final Four. The contest will be televised on ESPN.
Video highlight reels of each competitor on the website will help fans determine their choice. The winner will be determined through four weeks of voting (Feb. 13-March 16):
• Quarterfinals (Feb. 21-28)
• Semifinals (March 1-8)
• Finals (March 9-16)
The player that ultimately receives the most votes in the final round will be selected to compete in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, an event featuring some of the best college dunkers and 3-point shooters in the country.
