OKLAHOMA CITY – Mark Purser belted a grand slam as Oklahoma City University cruised by USAO 12-2 in seven innings on Thursday evening at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, recorded 14 hits in the game, including three home runs, to improve to 17-5, 4-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Purser, a junior from Spokane, Wash., led OCU with three hits and five RBIs in the game.

JACKSON, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University will seek its sixth women’s basketball national championship starting with a matchup vs. Shorter (Ga.) at 1:45 p.m. March 17 in the NAIA Division I Tournament at Oman Arena.
Five-time national champion OCU has previously won crowns in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002. The sixth-ranked Stars (29-3) advanced to the tournament by capturing the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament title on Saturday and grabbed one of four tournament No. 1 seeds.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oklahoma City University begins pursuit of its seventh men’s basketball national championship meeting Southern Polytechnic State (Ga.) at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 17 in the NAIA Division I Tournament at Municipal Auditorium.
Six-time national champion OCU captured titles in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008. The 16th-ranked Stars were the sixth at-large team selected to the tournament.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University posted a 9-0, 7-0 doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Lily LaVelle, a sophomore from Bridge Creek, Okla., and Ashley Wilburn, a senior from Gilmer, Texas, recorded shutouts for OCU. The Stars, ranked third in NAIA softball, improved to 8-6, 5-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

OKLAHOMA CITY – No. 19 Cumberland (Tenn.) rallied for six runs in the seventh inning to defeat Oklahoma City University 6-3 and sweep the Stars in a doubleheader on Sunday in a battle of top-20 teams at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars, ranked third in NAIA baseball, led 3-0 heading into the final inning of game two before giving up three home runs to Cumberland. Max Kautz had the big blast, a three-run shot over the right-field wall to give Cumberland the lead at 5-3. OCU dropped to 16-5 on the season.

JOPLIN, Mo. – Oklahoma City University split a pair of games in the Terri Mathis Zenner Memorial Tournament on Sunday.
OCU, ranked third in NAIA softball, pounded Missouri Western 9-2 before losing to Northwest Missouri 9-4. The Stars moved to 6-6.

BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University captured its third consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference women’s basketball tournament title, prevailing 62-55 over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at the Sawyer Center.
Donica Cosby, a junior from Coldwater, Miss., picked up the tournament most valuable player after an 18-point performance. The Stars, ranked sixth in NAIA Division I, rallied from an eight-point deficit to run their win streak to 23.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Nik Turner took fifth place at 157 pounds, and Corey Johnson finished seventh at 285 for Oklahoma City University on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena in the 53rd annual wrestling championships.
Johnson and Turner both pinned their opponent. Turner, a junior from Norman, Okla., closed out his season with a fall in 1:23 over Dustin Center of Cumberlands (Ky.). Johnson, a senior from Oologah, Okla., ended his career with a pin over Bacone’s Jeremy Colbert in 4:15.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – John Parks and the Oklahoma City University 4x400-meter relay team picked up all-American honors in the NAIA indoor track and field championship meet Saturday at the Memorial Center Mini-Dome at East Tennessee State.
Parks, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas, finished fourth in the 400-meter dash and led off for the relay team of Parks, Justin Viewins, Randall Hairston and Tyrone Hawkins.
