This Week in OCU Women's Basketball

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City (7-11, 3-9) hosts two home games this week, weather permitting, taking on Mid-America Christian (14-4, 9-3) on Thursday at 6 p.m. and USAO (14-4, 9-3) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Cold and possibly icy weather is predicted for Friday and Saturday.
 
OCU Notebook
Previously: Wayland Baptist used a 12-0 start to the third quarter to lead the way to a 71-49 win over Oklahoma City on Saturday. The Flying Queens had a 32-30 lead at the half before the third-quarter run. Sunishka Kartik led OCU with 10 points.
 
Stars at Home: The Stars are 3-5 at home and for 17 turnovers per game in Abe Lemons Arena. Ellie Willard leads the Stars with 12.4 points per home game, followed by Victoria Ososanya at 10.9
 
Our Best So Far: Brooke Curry's 11 rebounds at Central Christian is the best for OCU this season. Other category highs are 30 points by Ellie Willard against Ottawa (Ariz.), eight assists by Lauren Rowan at Panhandle State and six steals by Amanda Sene Da Cruz against Hesston.
 
Last Meeting with MACU: Oklahoma City's banged-up women's basketball team fell at Mid-America Christian 69-55 in November. Ellie Willard led the Stars with 19 points and had three steals. Victoria Ososanya added seven points, five rebounds and six assists. Lauren Rowan had seven points to go with her team-best six rebounds. Caitlynn Jordan led MACU with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Previously at USAO: A rough shooting night for the Stars saw Oklahoma City fall at USAO in November, 89-55. The Stars misfired on all 12 first-half three-point attempts and ended the game shooting 14.3 percent from three-point range and 29 percent from the field. Victoria Ososanya led the Stars with 17 points with Ellie Willard adding 10. Ti'Alone Banks had 18 points and Hannah Harris scored 13 points to go with 10 rebounds for USAO.
 
SAC Look: The Stars are in 10th place and one game behind Texas Wesleyan and John Brown for a postseason berth. MACU and USAO are part of a four-way logjam for second place.
 
League Leaders: Hannah Harris of USAO is second in the SAC with an 8.3 rebounds per game average. Taliah Lee of MACU averages a league-best 1.5 blocked shots per game.
 
Trending: In the last four games, Sunishka Kartik is averaging 13.5 points and Jerzie Bryant, freshly recovered from injury, is averaging 11 points and two steals.
 
Scoring: Ellie Willard leads the team at 15.9 points per game, followed by Victoria Ososanya at 10.1. Lauren Rowan leads the Stars with 56 assists.
 
Rebounds and Defense: Lauren Rowan leads the team with 5.8 rebounds per game to go with 22 steals. Amanda Sene Da Cruz has 11 blocked shots.
