PLAINVIEW, Texas – The Oklahoma City Men's Basketball team dropped its eighth straight game as Wayland Baptist pulls away in the second half to secure an 18-point win over the Stars.

FIRST HALF: Oklahoma City got off to a strong start as four different Stars scored during an 8-1 stretch to open the game. Wayland Baptist turned right back around nine straight of its own as neither side could go up by more than three until a 7-0 run by the Pioneers put Wayland up 23-16 with 6:08 to go. Oklahoma City trailed by as much as 11 in the first half before trimming down the deficit to six entering the half time break.
SECOND HALF: The Stars opened the second half on a 7-2 run as a layup by
Yorgio Golesis brought Oklahoma City within one. With 10:09 remaining the margin stood at five points before Wayland Baptist took off for a 20-4 run as OCU went without a field goal for more than six minutes allowing Wayland to take a 73-52 lead with three to play.
Nick Bonifay cashed two threes in the late going before one last make from deep by the Pioneers closed out the night in a 78-60 decision.
GAME NOTES
- The Oklahoma City struggles continue as the Stars drop their eighth consecutive contest falling to 10-15 overall and 6-15 in SAC play.
- Brandon Wilson led all OCU scorers with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and reached double-figures for the third time in the last four games.
- Beau Tranter was all over the place on Saturday with 10 points while tying a season-high eight rebounds and dished out his second-most assists with four.
- Wayland Baptist shot 11-of-31 from deep marking the 12th time this season an opponent has cashed in on double-digit threes this season.
- The Pioneers sweep the season-series over the Stars and earn their sixth straight win over OCU since January of 2023.
