This Week in OCU Men's Basketball

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City plays the final three games of its five games in 10 days stretch this week with visits from Southwestern Christian on Monday and Nelson on Saturday sandwiching a Thursday road trip to Texas Wesleyan.
 
OCU host SCU and visits TWU with 8 p.m. starts and finishes off the week at 4 p.m. against Nelson.

Previously: Oklahoma City bounced back for a 94-80 win over the College of the Ozarks on Saturday. Alphonse Muteba led the Stars with his best game of the season, scoring 25 points to go with 10 rebounds. Brian Alexander added 21 points and Jonas Carlisle came up with 15 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Muteba blocked four shots and Carlisle added three steals.
 
Logjam in the SAC: OCU's win saw the Stars rejoin the lead pack at 4-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference along with John Brown, Nelson and Langston. Along with leading the pack, those four have one other thing in common – the lone blemish was in a "home" game. Langston played its home game with Mid-America Christian at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
 
Stars at Home: The Stars are 4-1 at home this season and averaging 99.6 points per game inside Abe Lemons Arena. Four Stars, Jonas Carlisle (16.2), Brian Alexander (15), Alphonse Muteba (11.8) and Jackson Hopps (10.8) are averaging double-figure scoring at home.
 
OCU on the Road: OCU is 3-1 in true road games, including 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Jonas Carlisle averages 22.3 points per game in road games, followed by Brian Alexander at 18.8 and Jackson Hopps at 10.
 
Who's Hot: Alphonse Muteba is shooting a robust 82 percent from the field over the last four games. All of his shots have been from inside the three-point line. Jonas Carlisle is shooting at a 48 percent clip from the arch I the last four games.
 
Scoring: Jonas Carlise (18.3 points per game), Brian Alexander (17.2 ppg) and Jackson Hopps (10 ppg) lead the Stars in scoring this season. Carlisle leads the squad with 34 three-pointers while Alexander has attacked the basket for 64 two-point goals. Alexander leads the team with 4.1 assists per game.
 
Board Games: OCU has been out-rebounding opponents by nearly seven caroms per game. Jonas Carlisle leads the team at 7.4 with Alphonse Muteba at 6.6. Muteba is coming off an 10-rebound outing against College of the Ozarks and leads the Stars with 31 offensive rebounds.

Our Best So Far: Jonas Carlisle (eight assists) and Alphonse Muteba (four blocks) are coming off team season highs in those categories vs. College of the Ozarks. Brian Alexander's 29-point game at Mid-America Christian and Muteba's 12 rebounds against Haskell remain season highs.
 
History with SCU: The Stars won the SAC opener this season at Southwestern Christian 85-63 and have taken five of the last six games in the series. Jonas Carlise scored 25 points, including five three-pointers in that win. Michael Wooldridge had 14 for the Eagles.
 
Scouting the Eagles: SCU is 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the SAC after a 97-81 loss to John Brown on Saturday. Michal Wooldrdige leads the team with 13 points per game. JaColby Williams and Jalen Goar lead SCU with 18 three-pointers each.
 
History with Texas Wesleyan: The Rams have won the last four games in the series and haven't lost to OCU at home since the 2022 season. TWU won 75-65 in Fort Worth last season.
 
Checking in on the Rams: Texas Wesleyan is 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference after an 83-66 win Saturday at Wayland Baptist. Matt Nero, a 5-9 guard, leads the rams at 14.7 points per game with 6-5 forward Montez Young Jr. right behind at 14.6.
 
History with Nelson: Eighteenth-ranked Nelson is 0-3 in Abe Lemons Arena since 2022. OCU won the home game last season 77-74
 
Scouting the Lions: Nelson is 8-2 overall and 4-1 against the SAC after a 93-86 win at Panhandle State on Saturday. The Lions host Southwestern Christian on Thursday. Micah Clark a 6-7 forward, leads NU at 18.1 points per game. Trelin Green leads the SAC with 6.6 assists per game.
