OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City scratched another name off its 'revenge tour' list with a 3-0 win against John Brown on Saturday, 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.
Â
The Stars lost at John Brown earlier in the season, 3-1.
Â
"We're a different team than the last time we played them," said OCU Head Coach
Kristen Coventon when asked about the difference in matches. "We weren't clean today but we did some good things. You have to look to the positives. It was a little rough at points, but they played hard and JBU has some good players."
Â
The Stars scored the first five points of the opening set and led by as many as 16 points.
Natalie Adams ended the set with a kill.
Â
The Golden Eagles had a 7-4 lead in the second set but after an OCU timeout, the Stars launched into a 12-5 run and took control. OCU ended the set on a 6-0 run.
Â
Marina Kalajdzic had two kills in a 5-0 OCU run to break open an 18-17 third set.
Kacie Townsend got the match point honors with a kill.
Â
Grace Smallwood had the double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the Stars.
Natalie Adams collected 33 assists.
Â
The Stars wrap up the regular season next weekend, hosting USAO at 6 p.m. on Friday and Mid-America Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m.
