LANGSTON – Oklahoma City picked up an important Sooner Athletic Conference road win on Thursday, sweeping Langston, 25-23, 25-11, 25-18.

Kaylie Marshall led a quarter of Stars in double-figure kills with 11 while
Marina Kalajdzic,
Erin Mack and
Grace Smallwood contributed 10 apiece. The SAC's leading setter,
Natalie Adams registered 41 assists on the night. Adams and Smallwood had three aces each.

Kalajdzic defended well at the net, getting three solo blocks and having a pair of hands up for two more assists. Smallwood had 11 digs.

OCU led for most of the first set but Langston tied it up a 23-23 before Kalajdzic and Mack produced back-to-back kills for the win.

The Stars dominated defensively in the second set, holding LU to a negative .375 attack percentage. Mack had four kills in an 8-0 OCU run for a 13-2 lead. Smallwood later ended the set with an ace.

Maddie Edwards had two kills in a decisive 5-0 run in the third set to break open a one-point game.

The victory moved the Stars out of a tie and into sole possession of eighth place while also giving OCU the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Lions.

The Stars try for their third consecutive win on Saturday, visiting Southwestern Christian at 1 p.m.
