BETHANY – Oklahoma City put together its third consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball victory with a sweep at Southwestern Christian on Saturday, 25-12, 25-16, 26-24.
The victory got the Stars to .500 on the season and in the Sooner Athletic Conference for the first time this season. OCU never trailed at any point in the match
Maddie Edwards had three kills in a decisive 7-0 OCU run in the first set to deliver a 19-7 lead.
Marina Kalajdzic finished off the set with a kill.
The Stars scored the first five points of the second set with
Grace Smallwood getting two kills in that spree and OCU never looked back.
OCU and SCU were tied at several points in the third set but the Stars were able to withstand the Eagles for the win.
Smallwood led the Stars with 13 kills and Edwards added 10.
Natalie Adams had 34 assists and logged six aces.
Defensively,
Kate Cleofe had 15 digs, followed by
Kaylie Marshall with 14, Smallwood with 13 and
Ryan Leland with 11.
Erin Mack got in on four assists and Kalajdzic and Edwards added three apiece.
Now 10-10 overall and 7-7 in the SAC, OCU hosts Wayland Baptist at 6 p.m. on Friday.
