SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City's
Ayenew Devany won the men's cross country race and paced the Stars to a team win at John Brown's Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday.
Â
The Stars scored 43 points with three top-10 finishers. OCU finished ahead of John Brown, Mid-America Christian, Rogers State, Texas Wesleyan, and College of the Ozarks in the 10-team field.
Â
"We got the dub but we got lucky," said OCU Head Coach
Andrew Leahey. Â "JBU has a really good team. We had some unfortunate things happen to us in the race, but our sixth man,
Carson Patten, came in clutch and caught some JBU guys.
Riley Randall fought a great fight, and having Aye Devany win the race gave us the win. The goal was to get our rankings up and we did that. We got some bumps we have to smooth out, and I'm fully confident we will be ready for Conference and Nationals."

Devaney beat Tanner Devaney of Ozarks by less than a second for the victory, finishing the eight-kilometer course in 24:45.
