OKLAHOMA CITY – Each year, Oklahoma City University's athletics teams get involved in the greater Oklahoma City community. Every team gets involved in
Community Service Projects.
Â
Oklahoma City's track and field and cross country teams not only won two conference championships on the course, but they were champions of the community as well.
Â
During a 9/11 remembrance event, the teams delivered coffee and donuts and words of thanks to fire departments in Oklahoma City.
Â
In April, OCU athletes ran the entire Bishop McGuinness Middle School Track Meet as volunteers.
Â
Even when the teams were preparing for their ultimate competitions, they were active in the communities they were in. They worked with elementary school kids in Florida on a Fun Day event just prior to the indoor track and field championships. In North Carolina, prior to the outdoor championships, they volunteered at a food pantry.
