OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Men's Basketball team pulled off the overtime victory over Southwestern Christian on Saturday after coming back from 19 down as all five starters scored in double-figures to help secure the three-point win in extra time.

STAR OF THE SHOW: Beau Tranter was all over the place on Saturday making plays on sides of the ball while playing the highest amount of minutes on the team with 43. Tranter filled up the stat sheet by scoring 10 points, grabbing five rebounds along with three assists and two steals.
STAT OF THE GAME: Oklahoma City tied its season-high in steals with 11 after doing so on Jan. 2 against Texas Wesleyan. Four players garnered multiple steals in the contest with
Avery Jackson leading with three takeaways on the day.
FIRST HALF: Oklahoma City got off to a slow start suffering a four minute scoring drought midway through the first half allowing SCU to get out to a 31-15 advantage. The three-pointers from Southwestern Christian continued to rain home as the Eagles shot 5-of-10 in the first half while sinking three in the final 5:16 of the period. Oklahoma City finally hit the 20 point mark after a pair of
Brandon Wilson free throws with 4:07 to play as the Stars began to gain some momentum. The Australian pair of
Clayton Jewell and
Beau Tranter gave OCU some life nearing the end of half after a fastbreak slam from Jewell followed by a three from Tranter to cut the deficit down to 12. Oklahoma City shot just 9-for-32 (28.1%) from the field in the first 20 minutes while the Eagles boasted a percentage of 51.7% helping give SCU a 40-26 lead at the break.
SECOND HALF: SCU's Deondre Dunn immediately opened the half with his third three of the day giving the Eagles their largest lead of the evening at 17 points. However after the shot,
Mark Berokoff's team began to lock in as the tides started to turn for OCU with a 10-0 run that included three-pointers from Wilson and
Yorgio Golesis which brought the margin to just seven. The fight from Oklahoma City continued as the Stars clawed their way back by holding SCU to just three points for three minutes and forty one seconds as Golesis and Jackson took the game over to cut the Southwestern Christian lead down to one. With 7:54 to play
James Cloud knocked down a pair of free throws giving Oklahoma City its first lead of the night while the games upper hand traded sides through the downhill stretch. Dunn's big night for SCU carried on with another big shot from downtown with 1:43 to play putting his team up by two. Jackson and Wilson teamed up in retaking the lead all from the foul line with under a minute to play before Michael Wooldridge knocked down a pair of his own to tie the game with 10 seconds left. On the final possession Jackson drew his way back to the foul line with a chance to win it however he couldn't convert on either attempt sending the game into overtime.
OVERTIME: Opening the overtime period the two teams traded threes before OCU fully grabbed momentum with a big three-point play from Jackson with two minutes to go. Down to 1:29 to play Tranter cashed in a clutch three of his own putting Oklahoma City up two possessions before Wilson and Jackson could close out the game from the line while Dunn's final three-point attempt with two seconds left hit off the rim allowing OCU to escape with an 83-80 exhilarating victory.
GAME NOTES
- Oklahoma City wins its second game in a row moving to 10-7 overall and 6-7 in SAC play.
- Avery Jackson led the way for OCU with 19 points on an 8-of-10 day from the line while grabbing seven boards.
- Clayton Jewell, Brandon Wilson and Yorgio Golesis all racked up 15 points each as Jewell hauled in a team-high nine rebounds while Wilson went a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Golesis had a big day filling up the box score with seven rebounds, six assists and a 6-of-8 stint from the charity stripe.
- Oklahoma City cashed in on 26 free throws notching its third most makes from the line the season.
- The Stars turned around its shooting struggles in the first half by shooting 44.8% in the second half.
- Oklahoma City earns its 11th straight victory over Southwestern Christian moving the series record to 21-3 since 2013.
