BETHANY, Okla. - The Oklahoma City volleyball team took care of business on Tuesday evening by sweeping Southwestern Christian as
Natalie Adams surpasses 1,000 career assists in just her sophomore season.

STAR OF THE SHOW: Maddie Edwards tallied eight kills to set a new season-high surpassing the previous total of seven which was set on Aug. 23 against Our Lady of the Lake. Edwards put together a stunning .727 attack percentage going 8-for-11 while racking up a pair of blocks.
THE RUNDOWN
Set 1
Southwestern Christian put up a 4-0 run early on to take its largest lead of two points over the Stars. Oklahoma City kicked it in gear with an 11-1 run which included three kills by
Ruby Kelley. Leading 18-10, the Stars continued its push with four straight points while having three consecutive kills coming from
Erin Mack,
Emma Nickerson and
Maddie Edwards. SCU was able to score the next four of five points however it would not be enough to come back as
Rylee Steward delivered the set clinching kill to win 25-16.
Set 2
Oklahoma City opened the second set with a 7-2 run as Nickerson and Mack provided kills to help build up the advantage. The Eagles only drew to within four points of OCU as two aces by
Layla Olvera and
Natalie Adams allowed the Stars to grasp the momentum and work their way up to a 17-6 lead.Oklahoma City took its largest lead of the set at 21-7 after scoring four in a row capped off with another OCU ace this time coming from
Kaitlyn Dunlap. In front 23-16 after a small run by the Eagles,
Jaiden Downey stepped up delivering an assist to Edwards followed with a kill of her own to conclude the second set at 25-16 once again.
Set 3
Starting the third set going back and forth with the lead, OCU held a 10-9 edge over the Eagles before taking off with a 6-1 run powered by two kills from Kelley. The Stars kept it going with five points in a row as Edwards turned up the volume with three kills during that span. Leading 21-13, Oklahoma City went on to score the next four of six points to complete the sweep by winning set three 25-15.

- With the win, Kristen Coventon earns win number 98 for her career in six seasons at OCU.
- Oklahoma City had the upper hand in every statistical category beating out the Eagles in kills 38-18.
- OCU tallied six blocks during the match while Southwestern Christian went without a single one being the first Stars opponent since Central Christian in 2021 to have zero blocks against Oklahoma City.
- Ruby Kelley tied Edwards with a game-high eight kills being the first time this season she has not reached double-figures in kills or digs.
- Erin Mack had a big night setting a season-high with seven kills while tying a season-best of three blocks.
- Jaiden Downey led the way with 16 assists making it the sixth straight match where she has reached double-digits.Â
- Natalie Adams followed with 14 assists of her own to reach a milestone of joining the 1,000 assist club by bringing her career total to 1,013 in less than two seasons.
- Rylee Steward led the night with four blocks being the fourth time Steward has notched four or more blocks in a single match.
- Kaitlyn Dunlap held a game-high of 16 digs which is the third straight contest Dunlap has tallied double-digits while also delivering a game-high two aces.
