Stars open season with win at SNU Invitational

BETHANY, Okla. - Oklahoma City men's cross country opening its season in Bethany on Saturday in the SNU Invitational held at Eldon Lyon Park.

Among 48 runners competing freshman Carson Patten put up the second best time of the meet at 16:09.40 in the 5k run. Tanner Huffman fell right in behind Patten finishing third overall at 16:14.70.

Ryan McLaughlin and Jacoby Nance both posted top 10 finishes as McLaughlin carried a time of 16:24.95 coming in sixth overall while Nance came in ninth at 16:35.90.

Oklahoma City had three more finish in the top 20 with Alex Porter coming in 14, Fares Maarouf 18th and Jack Reed finishing 20th. 

The Stars passed four other schools to come in first beating out second place Oklahoma Christian by 23 seconds.

Southern Nazarene finished third while East Central and Mid-America Christian fell in behind. 

OCU will get back to competition on Sept. 27 in the Gans Creek Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
