Golesis dishes career-high 12 dimes, JBU shoots its way to four point victory

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Men's Basketball team drop a four-point decision on Tuesday night after John Brown lit up the floor shooting 50 percent from downtown as Golden Eagles take down Stars 90-86.

TOP PERFORMERS
Clayton Jewell - 21 PTS, 12 REB, 10-17 FG
Yorgio Golesis - 19 PTS, 12 AST, 7-8 FT
Brandon Wilson - 15 PTS, 10 REB, 2-5 3PT

STAT OF THE GAME: The Oklahoma City defense tied its season-high in steals as a team with eight, tying its total from the first game of the season against Ottawa (Ariz.) back on Oct. 31 as James Cloud and Yorgio Golesis each came up with two each.

FIRST HALF: Both teams traded buckets to begin the contest with neither side taking more than a three point lead until John Brown used a 9-0 run on three straight threes including two in a row from Drew Miller to get the Golden Eagles out to a 17-8 lead. John Brown forced its hand as the opposition worked its up to a 15 point lead with 7:45 to go before the tables turned in OCU's direction after a 16-2 run to cut the deficit to two. Oklahoma City used six free throws during that stretch as Clayton Jewell knocked down his only three of the night as the run was capped off by a James Cloud slam with 2:11 to play. A pair of threes in the final 1:30 for JBU helped keep the Golden Eagles in front as the contest completed the first 20 minutes separated by four points.

SECOND HALF: John Brown continued to have an answer to anything Oklahoma City was doing not letting the Stars in front as the Golden Eagles grew its lead back up to 10 halfway through. Avery Jackson helped keep the Stars within striking distance scoring eight straight points for OCU, six of which came from the charity stripe. With John Brown in control by nine and 1:52 on the clock, things looked out of reach however Oklahoma City continued to fight its way to the end with a 5-0 run after a pair of free throws by Yorgio Golesis and a three from Jackson to bring the deficit to four. After a pair of Golden Eagle free throws, Brandon Wilson took his turn making it a one possession game with his second three of the night and 42 seconds to play. John Brown was able to close out the game from the foul line to come away with a four point win in a half that totaled 98 point as each team scored 49 in the 20 minute period.
