COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Oklahoma City Men's Cross Country team claimed a seventh place finish in the NAIA National Championship meet at Gans Creek Course as
Evert Silva blows away the competition taking the crown as an individual.
Evert Silva became the sixth Star in eight years to win the individual title tying the all-time record in the Championship meet at 23:14 that was set in 1996. Silva was 30 seconds better than the second place finisher Demetris Love, Jr. of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) as the senior posted his second-best time of the season.
Silva now owns National Championships in Cross Country and Track & Field after winning the 5,000 meters last spring in the NAIA Track and Field Championships.
Oklahoma City Results 8K
College of Idaho won the team national title with 87 points. The Yotes were led by Daniel Butler, who finished with a time of 23:54.1 in sixth place. Hayden Bostrom, Elias Everist and Brevin Vaughan were also All-Americans for the Yotes.
Milligan (Tenn.) was the team runner-up with 96 points. The Buffs were led by their top finisher, Bryn Woodall, who placed fifth overall with a time of 23:49.5. Other All-American finishers for the Buffs included Winston Telford, Blake Hipkiss, Zimri Kuhn and Bryson Lewis.
