OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Volleyball team cruised its way to a three-set victory over Langston taking the season series with a pair of sweeps in 2024.

STAR OF THE SHOW: Michela De Stefano racked up a season-high 12 kills on a stellar .611 hitting percentage.
Set 1
Oklahoma City opened up the night by scoring the first seven points of the match as
Ruby Kelley delivered the first two kills while
Michela De Stefano and
Erin Mack got in on the action as well. The Stars remained in control taking an 11-1 lead and eventually 15-5 after
Grace Smallwood pounded one down. Following a three point run by Langston, OCU ran away with it by scoring the final 10 points as De Steafno strung together four kills during that stretch pushing Oklahoma City to its largest set win of the season 25-8.
Set 2
Langston played the Stars a bit tougher to begin the second set finding its first lead of the match and taking a 5-4 advantage. Oklahoma City turned it on and took the lead for the final time as the Stars rattled off a 5-1 run as Smallwood, Mack and
Rylee Steward collected kills to put the Stars on top. The Lions hung tight keeping things close trailing only 18-15 before the Stars took off once again and concluded the second set with the final seven points as De Stefano continued to shine leading OCU to a 25-19 victory.
Set 3
Like the middle set it was the Lions who got off to another solid start as both teams traded leads before OCU could score four straight causing Langston to take a quick timeout. The Lions were able to cut into the deficit to trail by just two before Oklahoma City had another one of its run of 10-0 as
Natalie Adams heated up for four aces to help push OCU out to a 21-8 lead. All Langston could do was cut it back down to 10 before Oklahoma City closed its out with three consecutive points as
Emma Nickerson shut it down with a kill to win 25-12.
Game Notes
- Oklahoma City moves north of .500 for the first time this year as they go to 12-11 overall and 12-5 in conference play.
- OCU had its second best attacking match of the season with a .326 hitting percentage while collecting a total of f40 kills on the night.
- The Stars tied its match with Central Christian for the second most aces in a contest with nine as the season-best stands as 13 which was set on Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Southwestern Christian.
- Ruby Kelley came up one dig shy of a double-double as the senior from Mustang put up a game-high 15 kills on a .393 attack percentage.
- Natalie Adams led the night with 18 assists while posting a season-high of aces.
- Rylee Steward tied a season-high with five blocks as Kelley followed with four.
- Oklahoma City remains perfect in the all-time series against Langston moving to 11-0 over the Lions since 2013.
