OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City men's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game as Mid-America Christian built a 12-point halftime lead and pulled away for a 79-65 victory over OCU on Thursday night inside Abe Lemons Arena.
It took almost a full three minutes for the game to have its first field goal as DeAngelo Adkins provided the four points of the game for MACU and finished the evening with 13 points.
Oklahoma City (3-11, 1-7 SAC) took its first lead since going up 2-0 after a 7-0 run thanks to
Brandon Jackson putting the Stars in front 19-17 with a mid-range jumper.
Mid-America Christian (9-5, 5-3 SAC) broke a 21-21 tie by closing out the final seven and a half minutes of the first half by outscoring OCU 24-12 handing the Evangels all of the momentum head into the half.
MACU continued to stay out in front extending its lead up to 23 points after Eylan Goodwyn went 1-of-2 from the line with just over 12 minutes to play.
Looking to mount a comeback, Oklahoma City began to chip away as
Nick Bonifay provided a spark to OCU hitting a deep three from the top of the key.
Since falling behind by 23, Oklahoma City cut the deficit back down to just nine points after a 17-3 run as
Brandon Jackson pitched in five points while
Jack McWilliams added four points after throwing down a ferocious slam to help pick up the energy in the building.
Oklahoma City surrendered its single-digit lead as MACU used an 11-2 run to put the Stars away and finish with a 79-65 win over OCU.
Brandon Jackson once again led the way for Oklahoma City for the second consecutive game as the senior forward racked up 23 points on five three-pointers. Jackson notched his sixth game of the season, scoring 20 or more points and his second double-double after hauling in 10 rebounds.
Nick Bonifay became the Stars only other double-figure scorer as the senior set a new career-high with 12 points off the bench while cashing in on three shots from beyond the arc.
As a team, Oklahoma City held a 43-40 rebound advantage over Mid-America Christian as the Stars set a season-high with 17 offensive rebounds.
Oklahoma City had a hard time taking care of the basketball seeing its second-most turnovers of the season with 19 as MACU picked up its second-highest number of steals this season with 14 on the night.
With the loss, the all-time series record moves to dead even at 18-18 since the series began back in 2007.
Oklahoma City will look to bounce back and snap its four-game losing streak on Saturday as the Stars take on Southwestern Christian at 3:45 PM on the road in Bethany, Okla.
