Stars absorb losses to Texas Wesleyan

Kiraly hits third home run of series

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University fell to Texas Wesleyan 9-7 and 15-5 on Saturday afternoon at Sycamore Park.

The Stars' Trent Kiraly hit his third home run of the series in the third inning in the early game. Oklahoma City went to 15-15, 7-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.

In the first game, Kiraly popped a home run in the third to slice OCU's deficit to 4-3. Reese Ratchford crushed a two-run blast in the fourth inning to give OCU the lead again 5-4.

Texas Wesleyan took the lead back again in the fourth, but it would not last long as OCU tied the game 7-7 in the fifth. With the bases loaded, Ratchford nailed a two-run single to left. Hayden Hutchins put the Rams ahead with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Tyler Polk got the start for OCU. Isaac Horstman pitched in relief in the fourth and took the loss. Ratchford went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Daniel scored twice.

In the second game, Hunter Lenochan put the Stars on the scoreboard with a fourth-inning solo shot over the left-field fence in the fourth inning. In the fifth, OCU plated two runs as Lenochan drove home a run with a single to center. Kiraly came through with a two-run double later in the fifth.

The Stars' final run came as Jesse Fonteboa drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

Andrew Limbaugh got the loss. Chad Pike, Connor Ferguson, and Frankie Danel III pitched in relief.
