OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University wrapped up round one in the Southern Nazarene Invitational in seventh place on Monday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
Aubrey House and
Jamie Welsh stood 16th and 20th, respectively, after 18 holes on the par-71, 5,912-yard East Course. OCU, ranked No. 2 in NAIA women's golf, posted a round of 311 as a team.
Henderson State (Ark.), ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II, sat in first place. The tournament includes Oklahoma Christian, rated 18th in Division II. .
House, a freshman cell & molecular biology major from McAlester, Okla., put together a 38-37–75 with three birdies. Welsh, a sophomore from Coppell, Texas, studying cell & molecular biology, supplied Oklahoma City with a 37-39–76 while hitting two birdies.
Blaine Bruton and
Meghan Charles both finished tied for 37th. Bruton putted in two birdies on the front nine and carded a 39-41–80, and Charles had a 40-40–80.
Carrie Bowers shot a 43-39–82 with three birdies. OCU brought a lineup including two sophomores and three freshmen.
The tournament concludes with the second round 8 a.m. Tuesday. The pairings have Bowers teeing off first at 8:08 a.m. and House teeing off last at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
