OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University knocked off Clarke (Iowa) 4-3 on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium in the series finale between the two teams.
Noah Kang came through with three hits and an RBI as
Rylan Roberson got the win. OCU, ranked 11th in NAIA baseball, moved to 2-4 on the win.
OCU got out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Kang single to right field scoring
Evan Maun. Kang, the freshman from Edmond, Okla., is hitting .385 with five hits in the early season. Maun, who amassed two runs and a hit, is a senior from
Greencastle, Pa. Hunter
Lenochan added another run in the fourth with a single to left field scoring
Chad Pike. Pike, a senior from Southampton, N.Y., had two walks and two runs in the game and now has 12 total bases, six walks, and six RBIs in the early going to the season.
Tristan Williams came up with a pinch-hit single scoring Pike. The Stars' final run came around on a wild pitch that scored Maun to make the score 4-1. Clark tried to mount a comeback on the heels of a one-out triple, but came up short.
In total, OCU smacked eight hits and left 10 runners on base. Maun stole the lone base in the game. Roberson, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., amassed six strikeouts in his first win on the season.
Tyler Polk, the senior from Duncan, Okla., collected his first save of 2023.
The Stars will be playing at home the whole month of February. OCU plays Saturday starting at 10 a.m. vs. 21st-ranked Concordia (Neb.) and 3 p.m. vs. No. 5 Bellevue (Neb.).
