Three from OCU honored by SAC

Dawn makes third-team all-conference

OKLAHOMA CITY – Annilia Dawn, Amaya Gordon and Fiona Wilson from Oklahoma City University snared all-Sooner Athletic Conference acclaim.

Dawn reeled in third-team all-conference, while Gordon and Wilson took honorable-mention nods from the league. Gordon made the SAC all-defensive team.

"The SAC is a tough conference, and to be acknowledged is a high honor," OCU coach Kris Seigenthaler said. "I have challenged these three and this squad to leave their legacy this season, and there is no doubt they have accomplished that.

"I have such gratitude that the SAC coaches have named Dawn, Gordon and Wilson to these prestigious accolades. All three of these players have been critical to our success this season and have earned this."

Dawn has collected 14.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.56 steals per contest this season. In the regular-season finale, Dawn, a senior psychology major from Amarillo, Texas, posted career highs with 34 points, 10 baskets and a 10-for-10 showing at the foul line Saturday against No. 24 Mid-America Christian. The Stars took their first win over a top-25 team this season on the road. Dawn nailed a career-best six treys at Central Christian (Kan.).

"Dawn has been our engine for this squad with her experience as a scorer, play maker and defender," Seigenthaler said.

Gordon has averaged 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.52 thefts this season. Gordon, a junior from Ardmore, Okla., studying criminal justice, has season-best numbers of 19 points at John Brown (Ark.), 14 rebounds at Southwestern Assemblies of God and nine assists vs. Central Christian. Gordon has contributed to OCU holding opponents below 35 percent shooting from the field eight times this season.

"Gordon has been the anchor for this squad as a play maker and defensively," Seigenthaler said.

Wilson has supplied Oklahoma City with 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.30 steals a game in 2022-23. Wilson, a senior human performance major from Greenland, Ark., totaled a career-high 33 points and 12 rebounds vs. Langston.

"Wilson has been our grit for this squad as a versatile forward in scoring alongside the toughness in defending on the interior," Seigenthaler said.

The Stars meet Texas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
