OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University downed MACU 79-72 to secure home-court advantage for the quarterfinal round of the SAC tournament.
Dravon Clayborn led with 18 points as the Stars end the regular season with a record of 16-12, 14-8 (SAC). Five Stars finished in double figures.
Clayborn, a senior from Evanstown, Ill., studying business administration, hit 10 of 11 free throws, and shot 40 percent from the court. He also had two steals.
Kori Guest had 16 points, hitting four of seven 3-pointers, while grabbing 11 rebounds to go with four assists. It was the fifth double-double of the season for Guest, a senior criminal justice major from Tulsa, Okla.
Brandon Jackson added 14 points, and shot 50 percent from the field.
Avery Jackson had 12 points and five rebounds, while
Parker Jones rounded out the Stars's double-digit scorers with 11, while also grabbing seven rebounds. Jones, a sophomore from Russellville, Ky. majoring in business administration, hit 80 percent from the field.
OCU led the entire game with the largest being 14 points with 6:43 to go in the second half. OCU held the Evangels to 41 percent shooting while limiting their free throws to just 18 while the Stars had 30.
OCU opens play in the SAC tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Texas Wesleyan. The game will be played at Oklahoma Christian University's Eagle's Nest.
