WICHITA, KAN. - The OCU men's wrestling team began its season in the Falcon Invite
Cade Manion placed fourth in the men's elite division while the Stars had one first place individual and two third place finishers in the men's amatuer division.
Cade Manion earned a fourth place finish after collecting three pins leading the squad with 12 points.
Cooper Mahaffey went 2-2 on the day after winning back to back matches in the consolation rounds and totaled three points at 133 pounds.
Cade Nicholas scored 5.5 points while stringing together a 2-2 day seeing a big win in consolation round two by fall in a 1:05 defeat in the men's 133 pounds.
Trinit Zweifel's finished his day going 2-2 while making the championship round two and falling in 2:14. Zweifel made his way through the consolation rounds before taking on Manion, his OCU teammate and falling in 1:24.
Drake Vannoy had a big day while picking up 7.5 points and making it to the quarterfinal round before losing in an 8-6 decision. Vannoy finished the day going 3-2 and collected one pin.
Kaleb Stone reached the quarterfinal round and earned 4.5 total points with one pin but went down in a 4-2 decision in the 285 pound class.
In the men's amateur
Braden Potts took first place after going a perfect 5-0 winning the championship round by a 10-8 decision in the 125 pound class.
Michael McCracken earned a third place finish while reaching the quarterfinal round and falling in 2:52. However, McCracken came back and battled his way to the third place match and became victorious in a 9-4 decision with one pin.
Cooper Cook rounded out the Stars amateur division with the second third place finish in the amateur realms as Cook dropped the quarterfinal match in a 3-2 decision before fighting his way back with four straight victories and winning the third place match to earn 13.0 total points and one pin in the 197 weight class.
