Stars look to make it three wins in a row

THE MATCHUP
•  Oklahoma City will host Mid-America Christian University at Redlands Community College
•  MACU ousted OCU 87-78 in their last match on Feb. 10 of last year
• Oklahoma City holds the lead in the overall series 20-16
• Admission will be free of charge
 
ABOUT THE STARS

•  The Stars come into the game with a record of 8-8, 6-4.
•  OCU's last game against Southwestern Christian ended in an 85-70 victory.
•  Brandon Jackson led with 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals.
•  Jackson is averaging 13.9 points a game.
•  The Stars had five players with seven or more rebounds in the game. OCU had a whopping 46 points in the paint and 26 points off turnovers.
•  OCU led by seven at the end of the first half and led the majority of the game. Their only deficit was by one early in the second half.
•  OCU ranks 26th in attempts per game and 24th in free throws made per game among the NAIA this season
• The Stars came in seventh in the preseason SAC coaches poll. OCU owns 13 SAC regular-season championships and 10 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City has advanced to the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament 25 times all-time and has won six national championships in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2008 
 
ABOUT THE EVANGEL
•  Mid-America Christian University holds a 7-9, 4-6 record on the season.
•  They are coming off a 56-44 win over John Brown.
•  Their leading scorer was DaRaun Clark with 11 points but every player that saw the court scored five or more points.
•  The Evangel are also a great free-throw shooting team with rankings 16th in attempts per game and 16th a ranking in makes per game in the NAIA. 
•  MACU took third overall in the Sooner Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.
  
MEET THE COACHES

Mark Berokoff (second season with OCU, 25-22) 

•  Mark Berokoff directed Oklahoma City to a 17-14 record in his first season as the Stars' head coach. The Stars collected the No. 3 seed in the SAC Tournament and earned their most conference wins since 2009-10 with a 15-7 mark.
•  Berokoff directed Randall to three national championships and a national runner-up showing in nine years as head coach of the Saints. Berokoff led Randall to a 147-122 mark. Randall annually squared off with SAC teams and knocked off OCU twice in that span.
•  Berokoff produced five national player of the year honorees, 16 all-Americans, three national tournament outstanding player award winners and one scholar all-American with Randall. Berkoff became two-time national coach of the year .
•  Berokoff's coaching career spans the high school, college and professional levels. His combined head-coaching record over 20 years in the college and prep ranks was 389-213 entering the 2022-23 season.
 
Josh Gamblin (eighth year at MACU, 149 - 71)
 
•  Gamblin Made the NAIA National Championship in his first season at MACU. He became the youngest coach in college basketball history to win a national championship.
•  He led The Evangels to its first 30-win season in the NAIA era going 30-2 in the 2019-20 season. They went on to win 20 straight games to start the season.
•  Gamblin served two years at Southwestern Christian University (SCU) as lead Assistant Coach on Head Coach Quinn Wooldridge's staff. Gamblin's duties at SCU involved recruiting, leading film sessions, and analyzing opponents' scouting reports.
•  He came from the University of Oklahoma where he was a Graduate Assistant Coach under then Head Coach Lon Krueger.
•  He was an Intern Video Coordinator for the Los Angeles Clippers under then Head Coach Vinny Del Negro.
•  He also has served as Clippers' All-Star forward Blake Griffin's Summer Basketball Trainer for the past three seasons.
