OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University made a huge charge at the Broncho Invitational at Gaillardia Country Club on Tuesday, making up eight strokes from day one to jump from fourth place to finish in a tie for first in the final team standings with Southwestern Christian.
Oklahoma City, ranked No. 2 in NAIA men's golf, carded rounds of 306-295 and Southwestern Christian went 298-303, with each finishing as co-champions at 601 strokes on the par-72, 7,120-yard course. Rounding out the top-five in the team standings in the 14-team tournament were Hutchinson Community College (604) and Southeastern Oklahoma State and the Southwestern Christian B team in a tie for fourth place (609).
OCU has now finished in first place in all six tournaments played for the 2021-22 season.
OCU had three golfers finish in the top-10 with senior
Will Fore tying for sixth place (75-72–147) and senior
Dalton Daniel (76-73–149) and freshman Dylan Tetter (74-75–149) tying for 10th place.
Boosting Fore to an even par round of 72 today was an eagle on the par-5, 562-yard third hole.
Freshman
Tres Hill tied for 38th place (81-75–156) and sophomore
Bo Robbins tied for 75th place (90-82–172).
OCU's B team finished 14th in the final team standings (354-320–674). Finishing for the B team were sophomore
Ben Thionnet (87-76–163), freshman
Jacob Wright (89-77–166), junior
Carson Breckenridge (84-84–168), sophomore
Bosten Ben (94-83–177) and freshman
Caleb Allen (107-88–195).
OCU will return to action on March 21-22 at the Paiute Battle in Las Vegas, Nev.
