• Oklahoma City University returns to Abe Lemons Arena for a Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball contest against Central Christian (Kan.)
• OCU honors the U.S. Armed Forces on Military Day. Those military servicemen wearing their uniform or with a military ID can get into Saturday's games for free
• The Stars begin a stretch of five home games in a row with four league matchups on tap for the coming week
• Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets must be purchased via OCU's HomeTown Ticketing portal. No tickets are to be purchased via cash on site. OCU students, faculty and staff gain admission to all OCU regular-season home athletics events free of charge with their ID
ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars suffered a 74-55 setback to Langston on Thursday night in Langston, Okla. Oklahoma City (2-5, 0-2 SAC) became the third foe Langston has held to less than 30 percent shooting from the field (26.5 percent)
• Annilia Dawn, a 5-foot-5 senior psychology major from Amarillo, Texas, totaled 12 points and three assists. Dawn has put together 9.3 points and 2.1 assists per contest this season
• Fiona Wilson, a 5-9 senior human performance major from Greenland, Ark., contributed 11 points and five rebounds. She snapped a streak of five consecutive games with a 3-pointer Thursday night. Wilson amasses 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.33 blocks per game this season
• The Stars took the seventh spot in the preseason Sooner Athletic Conference coaches poll. Oklahoma City has seized 20 SAC regular-season championships and 12 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City owns 26 appearances in the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament with nine national championships won in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 with four national runner-up finishes (2003, 2004, 2005, 2019)
• OCU owns a 10-0 advantage in the overall series. The Stars rolled to a 74-57 win Jan. 20 at Abe Lemons Arena. Wilson added eight points and seven rebounds
ABOUT THE TIGERS
• Central Christian fell to Langston 101-50 on Tuesday in Langston, Okla. The Tigers (0-7, 0-3 SAC) played four games in the previous week with Tuesday's game falling on back-to-back nights after Central Christian dropped an exhibition to Oral Roberts 100-40 on Monday in Tulsa, Okla.
• Makia Lovelace, a 5-8 freshman, had a season-high 11 points along with four rebounds. Lovelace averages 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds a game this season
• The Tigers average 48.0 points a game with a 30.8 field-goal percentage
• SAC coaches placed Central Christian at 12th in the preseason league poll
MEET THE COACHES
Kris Seigenthaler (first year at OCU)
• Kris Seigenthaler assumed the OCU head-coaching job after spending the last four years at Loyola (La.) as an assistant coach. Loyola made four national-tournament appearances with four 20-win seasons and twice sweeping the Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles
• Seigenthaler has had coaching stops as an assistant at Auburn University at Montgomery (Ala.), Faulkner (Ala.) and Shorter (Ga.). While at Auburn Montgomery, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association included Seigenthaler among its rising stars in the coaching profession on the Thirty Under 30 list.
• Seigenthaler began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Shorter following a playing career at the University of Montevallo (Ala.)
Matt Barreiro (1-36, second season at Central Christian)
• Matt Barreiro notched his first win at Central Christian on Nov. 16, 2021 over Ozark Christian (Mo.) 50-41 in McPherson, Kan. The Tigers went 1-29 in their first season under Barreiro
• Barreiro came to Central Christian after serving as men's and women's basketball head coach at The King's University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for seven years
• Prior experience gained as women's assistant coach at Anderson (Ind.), St. Ambrose (Iowa) and Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.)
