OCU falls short to The Master's 81-74

Stars come back to tie game with 1:26 to go

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Oklahoma City University's rally fell short in an 81-74 setback to The Master's (Calif.) on Thursday at the Arizona Christian Events Center.

Dravon Clayborn paced five OCU double-figure scorers with 17 points. The Stars (0-1) continue their road swing 4 p.m. CDT (2 p.m. MST) Friday against Ottawa (Ariz.) in the Arizona Christian Fultz Tournament in Glendale, Ariz.

Clayborn, a senior from Evanston, Ill., picked up five assists and two steals. Avery Jackson, a freshman from Frisco, Texas, provided Oklahoma City with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two thefts.

Parker Jones, a sophomore from Russellville, Ky., notched 14 points and six rebounds off the bench, and Brandon Jackson, a junior from Westmont, Calif., contributed 13 points while drilling a two-best two 3-pointers for the Stars. Kori Guest, a senior from Tulsa, Okla., added 11 points.

The Master's built an 11-point advantage late in the game, but the Stars rallied to tie the game with 1:26 left. Brandon Jackson sank free throws to knot the score 73-73 to cap an 11-0 OCU spree. Jackson assisted on Guest's trey that sparked the Stars' run.

Jordan Starr spurred The Master's with a 3-pointer and a bucket late to seal the outcome.

In the first period, Jones' lay-in with 5:29 remaining gave OCU its last lead of the game. The Stars led by as many as six points thanks to Brandon Jackson's trey early on.

The Master's rallied to tie the game 17-17 on Caden Starr's 3.
