• Oklahoma City University gets to Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball play against Texas Wesleyan
• The Stars open conference play at home for the first time since Nov. 29, 2018, when OCU beat Langston 87-47. Oklahoma City has won its first league game of the season each season since 2010-11
• Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets must be purchased via OCU's HomeTown Ticketing portal. No tickets are to be purchased via cash on site. OCU students, faculty and staff gain admission to all OCU regular-season home athletics events free of charge with their ID
ABOUT THE STARS
• OCU took an 80-59 setback to Friends (Kan.) on Saturday in Wichita, Kan. The Stars (1-1) held an early 12-4 lead for their largest of the day
• Fiona Wilson, a 5-foot-9 senior from Greenland, Ark., produced 21 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots while knocking down four treys at the Garvey Center. Wilson turned in 13.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.00 blocks and 1.00 steals per game over the weekend
• Cacie Gorman, a 6-foot junior from Watonga, Okla., contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Gorman owns averages of 8.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.50 blocks this season
• The Stars took the seventh spot in the preseason Sooner Athletic Conference coaches poll. Oklahoma City has seized 20 SAC regular-season championships and 12 SAC Tournament titles. Oklahoma City owns 26 appearances in the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament with nine national championships won in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017 with four national runner-up finishes (2003, 2004, 2005, 2019)
• Oklahoma City has gone 19-2 against Texas Wesleyan over the years. On Feb. 17, the Lady Rams won 76-66 in Fort Worth, Texas. Annilia Dawn's bucket cut the Stars' deficit to four points with 2:17 remaining, but Texas Wesleyan responded with an 8-2 run to close out the game
ABOUT THE LADY RAMS
• Texas Wesleyan dispatched of Texas College 97-60 on Saturday in Tyler, Texas. The Lady Rams (2-1) overcame shooting 33.3 percent from the field in the first half to finish with a 51.6 percent field-goal percentage
• Zarria Carter, a 6-1 sophomore, had 25 points, 13 rebounds and two steals to lead five Texas Wesleyan players in double figures scoring. Carter has averaged 20.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.00 steals a game this season
• SAC coaches placed Texas Wesleyan at second in the preseason league poll
MEET THE COACHES
Kris Seigenthaler (first year at OCU)
• Kris Seigenthaler assumed the OCU head-coaching job after spending the last four years at Loyola (La.) as an assistant coach. Loyola made four national-tournament appearances with four 20-win seasons and twice sweeping the Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles
• Seigenthaler has had coaching stops as an assistant at Auburn University at Montgomery (Ala.), Faulkner (Ala.) and Shorter (Ga.). While at Auburn Montgomery, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association included Seigenthaler among its rising stars in the coaching profession on the Thirty Under 30 list
• Seigenthaler began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Shorter following a playing career at the University of Montevallo (Ala.)
Brenita Jackson (27-8, second year with Texas Wesleyan)
• Brenita Jackson became the John Hudson SAC coach of the year after leading Texas Wesleyan to a 25-7 mark for the first 25-win season in program history since 2011-12 and first NAIA Championship Tournament appearance since 2010-11
• As head coach at Lon Morris (Texas), she led the team to a single-season school record for wins with a 19-12 record in 2010-11. Jackson became NJCAA Region XIV coach of the year after guiding San Jacinto (Texas) to a 23-9 mark and the program's first national ranking in 2014-15. San Jacinto had been 3-27 the previous season. Jackson came to Texas Wesleyan after serving as assistant coach at Little Elm High School (Texas)
• Jackson became an all-conference recipient at both Louisiana and Lon Morris during her college playing career
