Texas Wesleyan knocks off Stars

Dunlap supplies OCU with 24th 30-dig outing in program history

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University absorbed a 25-19, 25-19, 13-25, 25-13 setback from Texas Wesleyan on Saturday at the Sid Richardson Center. 

Kaitlyn Dunlap added another entry into the 30-dig club for Oklahoma City. The Stars moved to 12-13, 10-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Texas Wesleyan, ranked 23rd in NAIA volleyball, improved to 23-3, 17-1 in the SAC. 

Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, scooped up 31 digs to post her second 30-dig performance and fifth 25-dig showing of the year. Dunlap posted a season-best 36 digs Aug. 30 against Southwestern Christian at Abe Lemons Arena. 

Ruby Kelley, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., topped the Stars with 13 kills and five blocks, while Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., notched 12 assists and 14 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.  

In the first set, Texas Wesleyan scored the final five points of the set. 

The Stars closed the third set with a 9-1 run. Kelley contributed an ace and a block to propel OCU during that stretch. 

In the fourth set, OCU tied the set 4-4 on Kelley's block. Texas Wesleyan answered with the next five points. 

OCU returns home for a 7 p.m. contest Friday against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at Abe Lemons Arena.
