OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University sailed past Central Christian (Kan.) 25-10, 25-15, 25-18 on Saturday afternoon at Abe Lemons Arena.
Oklahoma City, ranked 23rd in NAIA volleyball, reeled off its fourth win in a row. The Stars own a 6-4 mark with a 5-1 record in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Ella Lofton, a senior from Cedar Park, Texas, collected 14 kills, five digs and two aces. Sophia Salak, a senior from McKinney, Texas, dished out 36 assists for OCU.
The Stars' Ruby Kelley, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., turned in six kills and two blocks, while Hannah Grundy, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, knocked down five kills.
Catelyn Vargas, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, notched a career-best four aces to go with three blocks, and Kenady Bertling, a senior from Baytown, Texas, supplied Oklahoma City with three blocks.
In the first set, the Stars rolled to a 13-1 advantage. Kelley and Olivia Nutter paired on a block to put OCU on top 17-3. Lofton capped a run of three kills in a row to give the Stars a 22-7 lead.
Dylan Sokolosky landed an ace to provide OCU with a 22-13 second-set margin.
The Stars got a block from Salak and Rylee Steward to build a 21-14 lead in the third set.
OCU faces Mid-America Christian on the road 7 p.m. Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
