STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma City University opened the 2021 season with a 12th-place finish at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday morning.
There were 16 teams in the field and OCU finished ahead of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Christian, Missouri-Kansas City and Clarendon College.
Sophomore
Shimales Abebe finished 17th in the 8K with an outing of 24 minutes, 11.1 seconds. He finished just ahead of runners from NCAA Division I power programs Northern Arizona, Texas and Colorado and was the only non-NCAA DI runner to finish in the top 20.
Freshmen
Halen Biggs (26:32.7 – 108th place) and Beckham Hartis (27:11.7 – 133rd place) were the next two finishers for the Stars.
OCU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas.
