Stars' Salak makes academic all-district team

AUSTIN, Texas – Sophia Salak of Oklahoma City University raked in CoSIDA volleyball academic all-district honors.
Salak, a junior from McKinney, Texas, made the NAIA District 4 team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Salak has forged a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average studying biomedical sciences. Salak has been recognized for her classroom work as an NAIA scholar-athlete, Sooner Athletic Conference scholar-athlete, academic all-SAC and two-time SAC commissioner's honor roll recipient.
In 2020-21, Salak posted 11.93 assists, 2.04 digs, 0.54 aces and 0.43 blocks per set, ranking second in the NAIA in average assists. She collected 50 assists four times and 40 assists 12 times over the past season.
Each of the last two seasons, Salak has been an all-American, AVCA all-American, region player of the year, all-region, SAC most valuable player, conference setter of the year, first-team all-SAC, SAC Tournament MVP and all-tournament in the SAC Tournament. She owns an NAIA setter of the week honor and 11 SAC setter of the week nods in her career.
CoSIDA honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Academic all-district selections gain consideration for academic all-American accolades.
To be eligible for academic all-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. 
Since the program's inception in 1952, the College Sports Information Directors of America has bestowed academic all-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
