Mid-America Christian holds off OCU 84-76

Mid-America overcomes 10-point Stars advantage

OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian rallied past Oklahoma City University 84-76 on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena in men's basketball.
Rashaun Coleman, a senior from Houston, sparked OCU with 17 points, five rebounds, six assists and two steals.
The Stars (1-5, 1-5 Sooner Athletic Conference) have seen their games decided by a combined total of 18 points this season. Three of OCU's games were one-point affairs.
Romario Spence, a senior from Luton, England, supplied the Stars with 15 points and five rebounds, while Kori Guest, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., added 11 points and three rebounds.
Oklahoma City raced out to a 10-point lead in the first half. The Stars reeled off an 11-2 run fueled by Curtis Osceola's 3-pointer and transition buckets by Coleman and Eric Amandio. Spence downed free throws to give OCU a 17-11 advantage midway through the first.
Ben Patrick sank a trey, and Amandio's steal and dish to Kealon Clayborne for a fastbreak lay-in pushed the OCU lead to 24-14 with 5:53 remaining in the first period.
Mid-America (7-2, 3-1 SAC) took over the lead on Dominick Ford's basket with 17:37 to go. Ford hit a 3 to increase the Evangels' edge into double digits at 53-43 at the 10:14 mark.
In the final minute, Coleman nailed his first free throw, then rebounded his miss on the second attempt and hit a putback to cut OCU's deficit to 80-74.
The Stars collide with Langston at 7 p.m. Monday at Abe Lemons Arena.
