Stars roll past Southwestern Christian 92-79

OCU secures its first road victory of 2020-21

BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University cruised to a 92-79 win over Southwestern Christian on Saturday at the Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
Rashaun Coleman rang up a career-high 25 points for the Stars. OCU moved to 2-5, 2-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
Coleman, a senior from Houston, landed his third career double-double while snagging 12 assists and seven rebounds. Coleman sank 8 of 12 from the field and all seven of his free-throw attempts. Kori Guest, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., boasted of season highs with 24 points and six 3-pointers while shooting 9-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. Both played the full 40 minutes.
Kealon Clayborne, a senior from Cedar Hill, Texas, tallied 18 points and five rebounds, while Romario Spence, a senior from Luton, England, notched his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Oklahoma City.
The Stars piled up a season-best 92 points and shot a season-high 55 percent from the field (33-for-60). Oklahoma City downed 12 of 27 3-point tries to hit double digits in treys for the third time in 2020-21. OCU won for the first time on the road this season.
OCU rolled in the second half, outscoring Southwestern Christian 59-46 to pull away from a 33-33 halftime deadlock.
Guest sank a 3 to push the Stars' advantage into double figures 48-37 at the 15:49 mark. Coleman capped a 7-0 run with a pair of free throws to give OCU its biggest lead of the day 83-63 with 4:57 remaining.
The Stars are set to meet Southwestern Christian at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
