McPHERSON, Kan. – Senior guards
Ryan Birt and
Rashaun Coleman combined for 43 points to lead Oklahoma City University to a 72-60 win over Central Christian (Kan.) in the Sooner Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night.

OCU (2-3, 1-0 SAC) started the game with a 10-3 run and never trailed to the Tigers. The Stars led by 15 points midway through the first half and held a 30-25 halftime lead.

The lead stood at 36-31 at the 17:36 mark of the second half before OCU went on a 21-7 run over the next six minutes to take a 57-38 lead. The lead kept building with junior forward
Dadrian Hoambrecker hitting a jumper in the paint at the 4:43 to push the Stars to a 64-39 lead.

Birt contributed a season-high 22 points while Coleman added 21 points and a team high four steals in the win. Junior forward
Kori Guest and senior forward
Romario Spence added 11 points apiece. Spence contributed a team-high 13 rebounds.

OCU will return to action on Saturday with a SAC home opening contest against Langston. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. at Abe Lemons Arena.
