EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma City University fell in its first dual of the season to Central Oklahoma on Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House.
The Stars, ranked 11th in NAIA men's wrestling, took on Central Oklahoma, ranked fourth among NCAA Division II. Central Oklahoma posted four falls on the way to the 48-(-1) win.
Keegan Luton provided the highlight for Oklahoma City in the 149-pound match. Luton opened the third period with an escape from Brik Filippo to tie the bout 1-1. Filippo edged Luton 3-1 after collecting a third-period takedown.
Central Oklahoma's Heath Gray, the top-ranked defending national champion, won 17-6 over Chase Vincent at 184 pounds. Dalton Abney, ranked No. 1 and a national finalist last season pinned Oklahoma City's Easton Rendleman at 197 pounds.
The Stars were deducted a team point during the 174-pound match.
Oklahoma City faces Texas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Thursday in Fort Worth, Texas.
