MARSHALL, Texas – Wiley (Texas) outlasted Oklahoma City University 59-58 on Monday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
Rashaun Coleman sank a 3-pointer to cut the Stars' deficit to one point in the final moments of the game, but OCU (0-3) drew no closer.
Michael Aiken's layup put Wiley on top 59-55 before Coleman hit his trey. Oklahoma City held a 55-53 edge on Romario Spence's bucket with 4:11 remaining.
Ryan Birt hit a lay-in to give OCU its largest lead of the night 41-31 at the 15:25 mark of the second half. Eric Amandio scored to match the Stars' biggest advantage at 43-33 with 14:12 left.
OCU's Kori Guest put up 11 points, two rebounds and three treys, while Spence, a senior from Luton, England, compiled 10 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
The Stars meet Champion Christian (Ark.) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena in OCU's homecoming contest.
