OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 93-75 victory over Champion Christian (Ark.) on homecoming Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Rashaun Coleman equaled his season best with 22 points to top the Stars. Oklahoma City (1-3) handed Mark Berokoff his first win as OCU head men's basketball coach.
The Stars scored the game's first 14 points, hitting six of their first nine shots from the floor as Champion Christian missed its first 10 field-goal attempts. OCU accumulated season highs for points, field-goal percentage (56.5 percent), 3-pointers (nine) and assists (18).
Coleman, a senior from Houston, dished out a season-best six assists, while Kori Guest, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., produced 19 points, five rebounds and four treys for OCU.
Ryan Birt, a senior from Plano, Texas, supplied the Stars with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Eric Amandio, a junior from Luanda, Angola, totaled 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Romario Spence, a senior from Luton, England, picked up 10 points and five rebounds. Elie Ghomsi, a senior from Bafoussam, Cameroon, hauled in a team-best 11 rebounds.
Coleman drained a 3 that put OCU ahead 76-51 with 8:58 remaining for the Stars' largest cushion of the contest.
The Stars take on Carroll (Mont.), ranked 10th in the NAIA, at 6 p.m. Central (7 p.m. Mountain) Friday in the Montana Tech Fall Classic in Butte, Mont.
