McPHERSON, Kan. – Eighth-ranked Bethel (Kan.) defeated Oklahoma City University 86-64 in opening round action of the McPherson College Classic on Friday afternoon at the McPherson Sport Center. The game was the 2021-22 season opener for both teams.
 
Senior forward Romario Spence finished with a team-high 16 points for OCU. Spence and senior forward Elie Ghomsi tied for the team lead with eight rebounds apiece.
 
Senior guard Rashaun Coleman contributed 11 points and senior guard Ryan Birt contributed nine points and six rebounds for the Stars.
 
Jaylon Scott finished with a team-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for Bethel.
 
OCU will return to tournament action on Saturday when the Stars face host McPherson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
