OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University thumped Mid-America Christian 25-23, 25-17, 25-13 on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.

Sophia Salak, a senior from McKinney, Texas, totaled 41 assists, five digs and two blocks for her 11th 40-assist performance of the season. OCU's Ruby Kelley, Ella Lofton and Olivia Nutter collected nine kills each.

The Stars split the regular-season series with Mid-America Christian, which won the contest against OCU on Sept. 21 at Mid-America. OCU repaid Mid-America for the setback from earlier this season on senior night.
"I'm so proud of this group of seniors," OCU coach Kristen Coventon said. "They have meant so much to this program, and it was so great to see a win like that on senior night. We were really motivated to avenge our loss to them earlier in the year, so it was so great to see how we responded. We can't thank the crowd enough. They made their presence felt tonight and we are so thankful for that. This group of seniors is special. Their success on the court, and their impact on this program is unmatched. I'm so thankful for them and everything they have done in their time at OCU."
Isabel Harwell returned to the court for the first time since Sept. 3. She checked in late in the contest to record a serve attempt. Harwell, a senior from Edmond, Okla., has sat out most of the season due to injury.
The Stars responded after falling behind 16-15 in the first set. OCU pulled ahead with a 6-1 run. Lofton crushed a kill to provide OCU with a 21-17 advantage. Lofton closed out the set with a kill.
In the second set, Bertling's kill put OCU on top 18-9. In the third, the Stars reeled off seven points in a row. Nutter and Salak teamed on a block to give OCU a 13-5 margin.
The Stars take on Panhandle State at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 in Goodwell, Okla.
