GOODWELL, Okla. – Oklahoma City University dropped its volleyball contest against Panhandle State 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19 on Friday evening at Anchor D Arena. 

The Stars went to 17-9, 15-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Catelyn Vargas, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, collected 13 kills and four digs. 

Sophia Salak, a senior from McKinney, Texas, amassed 37 assists, nine digs, five blocks and four aces for OCU. Ella Lofton, a senior from Cedar Park, Texas, posted 12 kills, 11 digs, two aces and two blocks for her 11th double-double this year. 

Josie Thomas, a freshman from Choctaw, Okla., landed 14 digs, while Kenady Bertling, a senior from Baytown, Texas, totaled six kills. Olivia Nutter, a senior from Plano, Texas, added five kills and three blocks. 

In the second set, Oklahoma City got out to a 5-0 lead after Bertling pounded a kill. Salak had consecutive aces. Bertling nailed back-to-back kills to give OCU a 16-7 advantage. 

The Stars finish the regular season 11 a.m. Saturday against Wayland Baptist (Texas) in Plainview, Texas.
