LANGSTON, Okla. – Oklahoma City University reeled in a 25-20, 25-17, 26-24 victory over Langston on Thursday night at the C. Felton Gayles Field House.
Catelyn Vargas, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, provided the Stars with 10 kills and three blocks. OCU moved to 15-8, 13-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Sophia Salak, a senior from McKinney, Texas, collected 25 assists and 10 digs, and Hannah Grundy, a sophomore from Oklahoma City, totaled nine kills and two blocks for OCU.
Ruby Kelley, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., and Olivia Nutter, a senior from Plano, Texas, each posted seven kills. Josie Thomas, a freshman from Choctaw, Okla., scooped up nine digs.
Oklahoma City climbed out of a 5-1 hole in the third set. Grundy smacked a kill that put the Stars on top 20-18. Langston evened the score 24-24, but Vargas pounded a kill that brought OCU the victory.
The Stars face Science & Arts at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Abe Lemons Arena.
