Top-ranked Stars seeks fourth consecutive SAC regular-season crown

THE MATCHUP
• No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University continues its quest for the Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season championship in a road game against Mid-America Christian
• The Stars have won or shared the last three SAC regular-season titles
• OCU leads the SAC standings by one game over Wayland Baptist (Texas)
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars thrashed Bacone 73-34 on Saturday in Muskogee, Okla. Oklahoma City (25-0, 16-0 SAC) hit the 25-win mark for the 21st time in 22 seasons with a 672-87 record (.885 winning percentage) since 1998-99
• Abby Selzer, a 6-foot-2 sophomore from Thomas, Okla., turned in a game-high 24 points in just 16 and a half minutes. Selzer went 11-for-16 from the floor with seven rebounds. She provides OCU with 18.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game with a 63.6 percent field-goal percentage
• Brennyn Seagler, a 5-11 senior from Gruver, Texas, stuffed the stat page with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Seagler turns in 10.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.36 steals a contest
• OCU's 80.7 percent free-throw shooting leads NAIA Division I. Mallory Lockhart tops the country with 101 3-pointers, which stands five away from tying Kesha Watson's single-season record 106 treys hit in 2003-04. To see how the Stars rank among the nation's statistical leaders, click here
• Oklahoma City retained the top ranking unanimously in the newest NAIA Division I poll. The Stars collected all nine No. 1 votes and 219 points to hold the top spot for the 52nd instance all-time. Oklahoma City has been in the rankings for 259 polls in a row dating back to 1997-98 to lead NAIA Division I. The Stars reached the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament for the 22nd consecutive year and for the 25th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• OCU was chosen tied for first in the SAC preseason coaches' poll. The Stars took their 19th SAC regular-season championship last season. OCU has won or shared nine of the last 10 league titles, going 236-22 (.915 winning percentage) within SAC play since 2007-08
• The Stars lead the all-time series 28-0
• Oklahoma City collected an 82-64 victory Jan. 25 at Abe Lemons Arena. The Stars used a 12-0 first-period run to overcome a four-point deficit and lead 17-9 late in the first. Selzer accumulated 22 points and 10 rebounds while hitting all nine of her field-goal tries
 
ABOUT THE EVANGELS
• Mid-America Christian outlasted Texas Wesleyan 83-77 on Saturday at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City. Mid-America (18-8, 10-6 SAC) saw its lead dwindle from 18 points late in the third quarter to two points with 2:41 left, but Anna Kash and Loralei Siliga scored crucial buckets
• Alexis Shannon, a 5-11 senior, had 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in 40 minutes. Shannon stands third in the conference with 19.5 points per game. She averages 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.31 thefts a game
• The Evangels rank eighth nationally with 80.2 points per game and 2,084 points scored this season
• Mid-America Christian was picked to finish fourth in the SAC by the league coaches before the season
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (140-22, fifth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to a 33-5 season with a trip to the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament title game in 2018-19
• Overton has coached four all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and 
Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympic games
• From 1998-2004, Overton served as an assistant for Oklahoma. The Sooners made five NCAA Tournament appearances during that time, with a 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth. He also earned three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament championships throughout his six years
• Overton collected his 150th career win coaching women's college basketball 85-70 over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Jan. 11 in Waxahachie, Texas. He has a 162-69 mark (.701 winning percentage) in seven years as a head women's basketball coach
 
Hannah Moeller (195-68, fourth season with Mid-America)
• Moeller has enjoyed a great deal of success in her head coaching career, having led MACU to two NCCAA National Titles and NCCAA tournament appearances in each of her three seasons on the MACU bench
• She has piloted MACU to at least 23 wins in each of her three seasons at the helm, setting program records for single-season victories in each of the three campaigns
• Was named NCCAA Division I National Coach of the Year after winning the National Championships in both 2018 and 2019
• Served as head coach, and prior to that associate head coach, at Hillsdale Freewill Baptist from 2011-12 through 2015-16. She also served as an assistant at MACU in 2010-11
• Played for Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla. from 2007-09, earning NAIA Scholar-Athlete and RSU Female Student-Athlete of the Year honors in 2009
