Stars Wrap Up Non-Conference Slate in Muskogee

THE MATCHUP
• No. 1 Oklahoma City looks for their 25th straight win to open the season as they hit the road to take on the Bacone College Warriors on Saturday
• The game will be the final non-conference game for OCU this season, as OCU has only five games left on the regular season slate
 
ABOUT THE STARS
• The Stars gutted their way to a 62-39 win over John Brown University on Thursday night, holding JBU off the scoreboard for the final four minutes of the game
• Abby Selzer, a 6-2 sophomore from Thomas, Okla., posted her fourth double-double of the season in the game, scoring a game high 19 points and snaring 11 rebounds. Selzer leads the Stars with 17.9 points per game, and she is second in NAIA Division I in Field Goal Percentage at 63.3%
• Erika Ankney, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Harrah, Okla., broke into double figures for the ninth time in her debut season, tallying 13 points and pilfering four steals in the game. Mallory Lockhart tallied nine points on a trio of made 3-pointers, bringing her NAIA-leading total to 98. Brennyn Seagler led the way with four assists, and Taylor Sylvester swatted away four JBU shot attempts

• Oklahoma Cityremained atop the most recent NAIA Division I rankings, as the Stars are the last remaining unbeaten team in NAIA Division I. The Stars reached the NAIA Tournament for the 22nd consecutive year and for the 25th time overall last season. OCU has captured nine national championships in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017
• OCU was chosen tied for first in the SAC preseason coaches' poll. The Stars took their 19th SAC regular-season championship last season. OCU has won or shared nine of the last 10 league titles, going 226-22 (.911 winning percentage) within SAC play since 2007-08
• The Stars lead the all-time series 11-0
• OCU soundly defeated the Warriors at Abe Lemons Arena earlier this season, taking the 95-36 win on Jan. 16
 
ABOUT THE WARRIORS
• Bacone took on Randall University on Thursday night in Moore, Okla., and the Warriors dropped a heartbreaker to the Saints, 71-70
• Jerimonte Hester and Madison Slinkey tied for the team lead with 18 points in the contest, while Lauren Masquat (13) and Kamryn Gentry (11) were also in double figures for the Warriors in the game
• Slinkey does rank in the top-5 in NAIA Division II in 3-point percentage. She sits third, connecting on 47.1% of her tries
 
MEET THE COACHES
Bo Overton (139-22, fifth season with OCU)
• Led Stars to a 33-5 season with a trip to the NAIA Division I Championship Tournament title game in 2018-19
• Overton has coached five all-Americans while at OCU, including Daniela Wallen, the 2017 NAIA Division I player of the year, and Daniela Galindo, the 2018 WBCA NAIA player of the year
• Overton served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team in the 2012 Olympic games
• From 1998-2004, Overton served as an assistant for Oklahoma. The Sooners made five NCAA Tournament appearances during that time, with a 2002 NCAA runner-up finish and Final Four berth. He also earned three Big 12 regular-season titles and two conference tournament championships throughout his six years
 
Juan Davis (4-34, first full season with Bacone)
• Davis took over as head coach of the women's basketball team at Bacone in mid-season in 2018-19, coaching his first game at Mid-America Christian on Jan. 10
• Earned his first collegiate head coaching victory on Feb. 25, 2019 at Ecclesia in a 69-64 win over the Royals
• Also served as the Warriors' Sports Information Director in 2018-19, and currently holds the position of Assistant Athletic Director
• Served as a men's basketball assistant coach for Bacone from 2008-11, and was on the coaching staff that took Bacone to it's first ever NAIA National Championship appearance as the tournament champions of the Red River Athletic Conference in 2010

• Oklahoma City University athletics will provide live audio and stats of the game at Bacone on Saturday. Audio will be available through OCU's Stretch Internet portal, while stats will be sent through the portal as well as the DakStats web-sync site
• Andrew Himes calls the action. Himes is in his ninth season as the voice of the Stars and has been broadcasting OCU basketball for 12 years starting on color commentary as an OCU student
