OCU pounds Texas Wesleyan 33-12

Stars end regular season with 8-3 dual mark

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University mauled Texas Wesleyan 33-12 on Friday night at the Sid Richardson Center.
Austin Loza, Jon McGowan and Kaden Truelove boasted of falls for OCU. The Stars, ranked 11th in NAIA men's wrestling, completed the regular season 8-3 in duals.
Oklahoma City will enter the postseason 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Sooner Athletic Conference-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Bartlesville, Okla.
The Stars' R.J. Walker knocked off Texas Wesleyan's Dracius McKee, who is ranked 20th among NAIA 165-pounders. Walker, a sophomore from Midwest City, Okla., turned in the victory 6-2.
Loza finished off Jason Chambers in 3:53 in the 149-pound bout. Loza, a sophomore from Enid, Okla., went to 11-4 after collecting his second pin of the season.
McGowan completed OCU's rally from a 12-0 deficit with his fall. McGowan, a sophomore from Hulbert, Okla., picked up the pin in 5:03. McGowan, ranked 18th at 157, notched his sixth fall of the season while improving to 17-8.
Truelove, a senior from Mustang, Okla., pinned Cameron Gregg in 2:12 in the 184-pound match. Truelove moved to 10-9 on the season with five falls.
Chase Vincent of OCU won 9-1 over Don Doyle at 174 pounds. Vincent, a junior from Yukon, Okla., made his season mark 16-4. Vincent owns the No. 3 spot in the rankings at his weight class.
