BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University walloped Southwestern Christian 25-13, 25-7, 25-17 on Tuesday night at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
Lacy Beeler, a junior from Jenks, Okla., topped OCU with 18 kills. The Stars went to 7-1, 1-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Sophia Salak, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas, amassed 35 assists, five digs and two aces, and Marijana Bjelobrk, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, chipped in nine kills and three blocks for the Stars.
Hanna Nicholson, a senior from Choctaw, Okla., knocked down six kills, while Isabel Harwell, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., added 10 digs. Kenady Bertling, a sophomore from Baytown, Texas, contributed three blocks to the OCU cause.
In the second set, OCU had a blistering attack percentage of .632. The Stars closed out the second set on a 10-1 run as Beeler nailed three kills. Bjelobrk had two kills and teamed with Olivia Nutter on a block during that span.
The Stars continue SAC play with a 7 p.m. contest Friday against John Brown (Ark.) in Siloam Springs, Ark.
