OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University cruised past USAO 25-6, 25-12, 25-8 on Friday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars, ranked 24th in NAIA volleyball, equaled their season best with 14 aces. Oklahoma City improved to 9-1, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
OCU ran its winning streak to eight in a row. The Stars moved into the national rankings for the first time since 2016 this week.
Lacy Beeler, a junior from Jenks, Okla., served up a career-high seven aces for OCU. Marijana Bjelobrk, Isabel Harwell and Catelyn Vargas added a couple of aces each for the Stars.
Sophia Salak, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas, doled out 18 assists with an ace. Bjelobrk, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, knocked down a team-high six kills, while Beeler added five kills and a team-leading nine digs.
Harwell, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., scooped up eight digs. Cecilia Campos, Ella Lofton and Olivia Nutter produced five kills each for the Stars.
Beeler racked up three aces in a row to put OCU ahead 17-1 in the third set. Beeler tallied all seven of her aces in the third set.
Oklahoma City meets Mid-America Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
