OCU takes two wins in SAC-RRAC Crossover

Stars sweep wins from Huston-Tillotson, Paul Quinn

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University collected a pair of volleyball wins in the Sooner Athletic Conference-Red River Athletic Conference Crossover on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars drubbed Paul Quinn (Texas) 25-14, 25-11, 25-15 and smacked Huston-Tillotson (Texas) 25-21, 28-26, 25-14 in the showdown between the two nearby leagues.

Sophia Salak spearheaded OCU against Paul Quinn. Salak, a sophomore from McKinney, Texas, rang up 34 assists with four kills and two blocks. Marijana Bjelobrk supplied the Stars with nine kills, six digs, three blocks and three aces.
Lacy Beeler posted eight kills, six digs and two aces, while Isabel Harwell contributed 19 digs and four aces for the Stars.
In the second set, OCU reeled off an 8-0 run to erase a 3-1 deficit. The Stars closed out the set with nine points in a row.
Against Huston-Tillotson, the Stars erased deficits of 14-9 and 20-16 in the second frame. OCU reached set point four times until Beeler's ace wrapped up the set.
Beeler, a junior from Jenks, Okla., turned in 13 kills and 13 digs, and Ella Lofton
put together 12 kills and four digs for OCU. Bjelobrk, a senior from Belgrade, Serbia, added 10 kills, nine digs and two blocks.
Salak piled up 44 assists, nine digs and two aces, while Harwell, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., picked up 20 digs.
Oklahoma City faces University of the Southwest (N.M.) at 11 a.m., then Wiley (Texas) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
