Stars bring in Ankney

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University women's basketball team has signed Erika Ankney of Harrah, Okla., for its 2019-20 season.
Ankney spent last season at Oral Roberts. Ankney helped Harrah to the 2017 Class 4A state championship. 
The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 11.4 points per game as a junior and 10 points as a senior at Harrah High School playing under head coach Jeff Mahoney. She helped lead Harrah to the 2016 Oklahoma Class 4A state runner-up. Ankney was selected to the all-tournament teams at the state tournament both years. 
She was a dual-sport athlete at Harrah, running cross country and track as well. 
Ankney averaged 1.6 points per game in five games as a Golden Eagle. She posted a career high of four points vs. North Dakota State. 
The Stars (33-5) won their 19th Sooner Athletic Conference regular-season title last season, finishing as national runner-up for the fourth time (2003, 2004, 2005) after losing to Montana Western in the NAIA Division I women's basketball tournament championship. 
Oklahoma City owns nine national championships won in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017.
