BILLINGS, S.D. – Oklahoma City University's women's indoor track and field team claimed three more berths into the finals after Friday's preliminaries at the NAIA Indoor Championships at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Aminat Olowora punched her ticket into the finals for the mile race Saturday qualifying in fifth with a time of five minutes 03.57 seconds and the 3,000-meter run without semifinal runs due to a limited number of runners in the event.
Olowora, a senior from Lagos, Nigeria, will compete in three finals Saturday. The 3,000 meters, the mile and the distance medley finals. In the 2018 NAIA track & field indoor championships, Olowora set a school record and took first place in the 3,000-meter race and became national runner-up in the mile.
Also competing in the individual events for Oklahoma City will be Nikole Halladay-Meth. Halladay-Meth, a Freshman from Odessa, Texas, will run in the 200 meters. She did not qualify for the finals in the 60 meters, but she broke the school record she set earlier this season running a 7.71.
Sheridan Hoyer, a junior form Poteau, Okla., finished in 10th place in the 800 meters, with a time of 2:17.73.
The finals will start at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, with the awards ceremony happening at 5:30 p.m.
